Hannover was an unlikely launchpad for one of house music's great crossover operators, but Mousse T made that distance from the usual centres work for him. Here, Defected gathers 30 tracks from a catalogue where 'Horny' still does an absurd amount with a bassline and one shameless hook. His Moloko remix gives 'Sing It Back' more room to breathe around Roisin Murphy's voca and the newer 'Rock The Mic' shows the same instinct for economy. Grooves are cleanly engineered, with very little hanging around past its usefulness.
